About Toon Tone
Toon Tone is a free daily browser game where you rebuild a famous cartoon character's exact color from memory using hue, saturation, and brightness sliders. Your guess is scored with CIEDE2000 color distance — the lower the score, the closer your color.
What makes Toon Tone different
Most cartoon color games just compare raw RGB numbers. Toon Tone grades every guess with CIEDE2000, the perceptual color-difference metric used in professional color science, so your score reflects how close your color looks to the human eye rather than how close the raw numbers are.
The other half of the project is a reference: every featured character has a page with exact hex, RGB, and HSB study values, a derived palette of tints and shades, and a short note on why that shade was chosen. The library currently covers 94 characters across 40 franchises, grouped by color family.
Who makes it
Toon Tone is an independent fan project built for animation fans, artists, and anyone who wants to train their color perception. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of the studios or characters it references. All characters and franchises are the property of their respective owners, and the color values shown are approximate study values intended for educational color practice.
